| "Artist Information Instrumentation Darren J:acoustic,electric and bass guitars. drums and percussion,occasional keyboards,vocals/harmonies and all other sounds. Biography Darren describes himself as a folk artist who writes and plays all of his own material. But the truth is that the sound he creates crosses over out into more than just the folk music scene. Friends is a great example of this, with its old-world folky feel that is welded fast to an excellently accessible pop music sound. Darren's been around a while, but it sounds like hes gotten a sound together now that'll work for him. Darren records everything himself on his own at home on a porta studio but it sounds like its come out of Abbey Road so we think his production talents should get a mention also. Proper songwriter at his best.....excellent. ive been playing music since i was 8 years old. my dad bought home an old acoustic guitar when i was 12 and within an hour i could play it..ive never had a lesson nor been taught anything on any instrument i play,its all done by ear. i used to jam with other musicians in alocal pub when i was 13 or so,these guys were pro musicians and little ole me used to play drums for them...folks found this crazy "look at the little lad on the drums" they used to say. i think this experience has helped me throughout my musical journey. i then joined loads of bands and played all over the place,from funk to jazz to rock covers and indie bands. one of my best friends is a guy called Barry mitchell...he played in queen in 1970..have a look at the queen online message boards hes there!!! so now,ive just finished my debut album..its taken me 2 years or so to complete as i do it all alone...from writing the tunes to producing the final mix. its very raw and organic as i record it realtime and play along to a click track,its got that Band sound i suppose. so thats all about me,i hope you enjoy my songs and they somehow brighten up your day. thanks Darren I am on the current Matchbox recordings compilation Stay In The Box,its a collection of some of the worlds best unsigned artists. my song "Friends"is on it track 11..search ITUNES for it. also i have taken it upon myself to release my album, aptly named "One More GO" By Darren J Claxton. 10 tracks of pure listening pleasure i hope :) it should be up on Itunes within the month so look out for that one. you can download the whole album or just each track if you like them enough.
